About the Dr. Thomas Marx Award

The Dr. Thomas Marx award was created, 15 years ago, to encourage young lawyers from CONSULEGIS member firms to pursue legal and creative excellence by presenting research on topics relevant to international law that brings new trends and ideas to light.

It was created in honour one of CONSULEGIS’ founding members and its first chairman, Dr. Thomas Marx, who died unexpectedly in 2003.

Prize Details:

The Award Committee comprising three members appointed by the Advisory Board of CONSULEGIS will analyze the Paper and judge its depth, detailed analysis, legal drafting and overall excellence.

Application

Who Can Apply

Any lawyer, in-house Counsel, professional of a CONSULEGIS member firm, under the age of 35.

Process

Call for the submissions by CONSULEGIS.

Submit the research paper and all the application materials (see below) by June 30 to consulegis@consulegis.com and to: CONSULEGIS EWIV / EEIG. Poststrasse 14-16 III 20354 Hamburg | Germany.

Results will be announced in August.

Materials

  • A quality research paper of a minimum of ten (10) pages and should not surpass fifty (50) pages. (10 point type min.) in English on a topic relevant to international law. (papers will not be returned to candidates).
  • The APPLICATION FORM , filled out and signed by the candidate.
  • A one-page summary that clearly and briefly indicates the significance, point of view and originality of the paper.
  • An up-to-date CV (2 pages max) that includes reference to previous publications.
  • Head shot of applicant for publication.

Award Criteria

The CONSULEGIS Award Committee will evaluate submissions based on the following criteria and announce the winner in August:

  • Presentation of ideas (must be comprehensible to non-experts in the field)
  • Novelty of approach (does the research presented add new value?)
  • Excellence
