  • Collection and Processing of Personal Data While Using this Website.

The personal user information gathered by CONSULEGIS during visits to this website will be used by CONSULEGIS for evaluation and further improvement and personalization of this website.

CONSULEGIS aims to use the gathered information to optimize the accessibility and quality of this website, and for marketing purposes. When users visit our website, we may record their IP address and use cookies and other Internet technologies to gather general information about our visitors and their interests.

We may further collect and process any information and data that users volunteer, e.g., when registering for events, subscribing to newsletters, participating in online surveys, groups or forums, or when making purchases.

IP Addresses

We use IP addresses to help diagnose problems, to administer our website, and to gather demographic information. We may also use IP addresses or other information, such as user information shared with us on this website or at any earlier occasion, or related to a campaign code, to determine which pages on our sites are being visited, so we can determine the topics that may be of interest and provide users with information about relevant products and services. CONSULEGIS will aggregate such data anonymously, and will not tie it to a particular individual unless he or she has given consent.

CONSULEGIS may also collect IP addresses and other technical information, such as browser type. This information is collected when users connect to CONSULEGIS so that we can identify the user, deliver content based on the technical capabilities of the user’s browser, and for quality control purposes. User IP addresses are not used to identify the user, unless the user has provided prior consent.

CONSULEGIS will only gather information related to user visits to the CONSULEGIS site. We do not track or collect personal information from user visits to companies or entities outside the CONSULEGIS network of companies.

Automated Tools

In addition to the information you provide, CONSULEGIS may also collect information during user visits to the CONSULEGIS website through automated tools, which include web beacons, cookies, embedded web links, and other commonly used information-gathering tools. These tools collect certain standard information that the user’s browser sends to our website, such as browser type and language, access times, and the address of the website from which the user arrived to the CONSULEGIS website. Using these tools, CONSULEGIS is also able to confirm receipt of emails that the recipient consented to receive, and can track other information such as pages visited on the CONSULEGIS site, whether or not the recipient registers for an event offered by CONSULEGIS, and certain other aggregate data.

Special Information Concerning Emails

Emails from CONSULEGIS often use links designed to lead users to a relevant area on the website, after redirection through CONSULEGIS servers. The redirection system allows CONSULEGIS to change the destination URL of these links, if necessary, and to determine the effectiveness of our marketing initiatives.

In emails, such links may also allow CONSULEGIS to determine if users have clicked on a link in the email, and the information about this interaction may be connected to the user’s personal identity. If users do not want CONSULEGIS to collect information about the links they have clicked, they can simply choose not to click on the links in an email that CONSULEGIS has sent.

If users choose to give us their email address, we will communicate with them via unencrypted email. We do not share user email addresses with others outside the CONSULEGIS EWIV or its member firms. You can choose not to receive email from CONSULEGIS at any time.

Depending on how the user’s email application is configured, information about the user may be transmitted automatically when the user sends email to CONSULEGIS.

We communicate with users who subscribe to our services on a regular basis via email, and we may also communicate by phone to resolve customer complaints or investigate suspicious transactions. We may use email addresses to confirm the user’s opening of an account, to send notice of payments, to send users information about changes to our products and services, and to send notices and other disclosures as required by law. Generally, users cannot opt out of these communications, but they will be primarily informational in nature, rather than promotional.

Use and Purpose of Collected Personal Data

Personal information submitted to CONSULEGIS will be treated confidentially but could be collected and archived in a database or file owned by CONSULEGIS. Processing of this personal information may be used for marketing purposes by CONSULEGIS. Personal information will be discarded when it is no longer necessary for the purposes it was collected.

To better serve users and be able to understand their needs and interests, CONSULEGIS collects, exports, and uses personal information with adequate notice and consent, along with required filings with data protection authorities, when applicable.

We will not subsequently change the way users’ personal data is used without their consent, as required by applicable law. Some of the ways we may use personal data include, but are not limited to:

  • Customising information about our network, member firms and services to individual interests;
  • Providing users the ability to view protected content;
  • Contacting users when necessary, for purposes of customer feedback or support;
  • Offering contests, sweepstakes or other marketing or promotional activities on the consulegis.com or affiliate websites. Personal data may be collected to administer those programs;
  • Conducting questionnaires and surveys in order to provide better products and services to our customers, partners and end users. Completion of questionnaires is always voluntary.

Sharing Your Personal Data

As a global network, CONSULEGIS operates a number of websites around the world. Any data and information that a user has volunteered or that is otherwise collected on one of our sites in any one country may be sent electronically to a server for one of these sites in another country. We safeguard our users’ privacy interests around the world by ensuring that the CONSULEGIS website adheres to the data protection principles described in this statement.

Transmission of Data

We do not share user information with unrelated third parties, unless required by the law or the judicial authorities.

Cookies

CONSULEGIS uses cookies to deliver personalized content, to save users from having to re-enter their passwords repeatedly, to keep track of the content they download, and to tailor our information offerings to how our users use the site.

Cookies are a very small text file that is automatically created by a browser and stored on the user’s device (for example, a PC, a phone, etc.) It contains a simple text code that the browser sends back to our website each time a user browses a new page. This allows the website to look up specific user sessions and to associate data for that session with the user’s browser. The data itself is not stored in the user’s cookie but on the server(s) operating the website. Cookies do no damage to the end device and do not contain viruses, trojans or other malware.

Cookies store information that, in each case, is related with the specific end device used. This does not mean, however, that we become immediately aware of the user’s identity.

The use of cookies helps us do things like customise our offer so that it is more relevant to specific users. For instance, CONSULEGIS may use a “session cookie” to identify a user’s browser “session” as the user navigates between pages on the website and performs activities. The website cookie allows our website to recognise each subsequent request from the user’s browser as being the same browser that made the initial request to our website.

By knowing that each subsequent request is related to the first, our website is able to track user actions as they navigate the website and to provide interactive features. By analysing how our website is being used in general, we can improve the website experience for future visitors. If a user experiences problems when using our website, our web developers may be able to use this information to track the user’s specific “user journey” and investigate and fix any issues. These cookies are automatically deleted when the user leaves our site.

In addition, we also use temporary cookies that are stored on the user’s end device for a specified period of time in order to optimise user-friendliness. If a user returns to our site to use our services again, the information related to the previous visit –the entries and settings previously made, for example– is automatically recognized so that it is not necessary to re-enter this information.

Users can configure browsers to inform them whenever cookies are created, or to prevent them from being created in the first place, using the browser-specific instructions detailed here:

  • Internet Explorer
  • Chrome
  • Firefox
  • Safari

Disabling cookies may mean that the user cannot use all the functions of this website to their full extent, but users that configure their browsers to prevent cookies will not be prevented from visiting our website.

Security of Your Personal Data

CONSULEGIS is committed to protecting the personal data users share with us. We use a combination of industry-standard security technologies, procedures, and organisational measures to help protect your personal data from unauthorised access, use or disclosure.

CONSULEGIS supports online security using secure server technology because we want to safeguard user data. There are state-of-the-art security arrangements and facilities on CONSULEGIS sites to prevent abuse. We also bind our employees to observing user privacy and confidentiality rights.

Choice/Opt-Out

CONSULEGIS always gives users the option to opt out of the communications we send out, in the event that they do not want to receive our emails and updates regarding new services and products.

Data Retention

By using our website, users consent to the collection and use of personal information in the manner set out in this privacy policy. If we change or modify this privacy policy, we will post these changes clearly on this page.

When someone visits www.consulegis.com we use a third party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard Internet log information and details of visitor behavior patterns. We use a third-party provider, Mailchimp Email Marketing (and others), to deliver our e-newsletters. We gather statistics related to the number of opens and clicks using industry standard technologies, including clear gifs to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletter.

Security and Performance

CONSULEGIS uses a third party service (Fontventa) to help maintain the security and performance of the CONSULEGIS website. To deliver this service it processes the IP addresses of visitors to the website. When the data processing is based solely on user consent, the user may withdraw consent by sending a written request to CONSULEGIS at any time, without prejudice to the lawfulness of the processing undertaken prior to the withdrawal of your consent. User data is stored until the user withdraws consent.
